VCU Broad Street Mile   Visit website >>

The VCU Broad Street Mile combines a 5K and series of 1-mile fun runs with a community festival on the city’s major thoroughfare, Broad Street.  The 3rd annual event will take place on Broad Street between Belvidere Street and Hermitage Road.  In addition to providing a fun, festive event, the VCU Broad Street Mile provides a turnkey fundraising opportunity for local community organizations.

Broad Street will be transformed into two areas, a fun run course and festival.  The fun run course will feature fun themed mile races throughout the event, while the festival area will feature exhibits from VCU academic programs, VCU student organizations, corporate sponsors, and community organizations.  The festival will also include music, art, food, and fitness demonstrations.

Come out to run the 5k or one-mile fun run in support of your favorite charity, and then enjoy the FREE festival.

TEAM EXCEL

TEAM EXCEL is a “reverse” Fantasy Football concept where students become the fantasy athletes, and professional athletes and community mentors serve as team coaches. Each week, students receive individual and team scores based on their grades, attendance, and community service. Teams compete for weekly prizes based on their team averages, with grand prizes awarded at the end of marking periods and the end of the year or “season”. Individual prizes are also awarded to students that excel throughout the year.

TEAM EXCEL is the signature program for Excel to Excellence. The organization was founded by Richmond native and 8 year NFL Veteran Michael Robinson. Avail provides foundation management services for Michael Robinson and Excel to Excellence.

TEAM EXCEL currently takes place at Varina High School and John Rolfe Middle School. For more information, please contact your school administrator or visit www.exceltoexcellence.org. or www.goteamexcel.org.

Moriah McNeil Memorial Celebrity Golf Classic

Emanuel McNeil founded The Moriah McNeil Memorial Celebrity Golf Classic in 2004, to honor the memory of his daughter Moriah and help other families in need.  During Moriah’s battle with cancer, the family was blessed to have support from charitable organizations such as Sparrow Clubs USA.  In founding the golf tournament, Emanuel made a commitment to honor his daughter by raising funds for organizations that support families in need, due to a medical crisis.  Even during her struggle with cancer, Moriah raised thousands of dollars for charity and donated her own time and money to help others.  The Moriah McNeil Memorial Celebrity Golf Classic continues her legacy of giving.

Moriah McNeil fought long and hard during her battle with Fibrosarcoma, a deadly form of cancer. Please join us at the 11th annual Moriah McNeil Memorial Celebrity Golf Tournament as we honor the memory of Moriah and raise money for The ReeseStrong Foundation and the children they serve. The ReeseStrong Foundation is dedicated to helping families stay strong in the battle against childhood cancer.

Soul Bowl Richmond

Soul Bowl is a series of charitable events that combines bowling with music, food, and games!  In addition to providing adults with an alternative to the nightclub, Soul Bowl raises money and awareness for local and national non-profit organizations.  Participating organizations utilize these funds to support a variety of causes that include, but are not limited to education, health & wellness, financial literacy, and domestic violence.

The success of Soul Bowl is attributed to its unique concept and ability to meet a specific need among adult professionals.  A night of Soul Bowl includes a DJ, live band, buffet, games, billiards, and plenty of bowling!  The variety of activities, great music, and good food creates a vibrant atmosphere that keeps attendees coming back and spreading the word to their friends.  Soul Bowl has become a popular destination for birthday celebrations, class reunions, corporate gatherings, and friends simply getting together to have fun!
